About Song N. Tan, MD, FAAP

Board-certified pediatrician Song N. Tan, MD, FAAP, is honored to provide medical care for infants, children, and teens at his practice, Karing Pediatrics, in Long Beach, California. He specializes in helping children stay physically, mentally, and emotionally healthy through preventive health care, advanced treatments, and comprehensive services.

Dr. Tan received his Doctor of Medicine from the Phnom Penh University Faculty of Medicine in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. After graduating, he completed residency training in pediatrics at the University of Hawaii, John A. Burns School of Medicine, Kapiʽolani Medical Center for Women and Children, in Honolulu, Hawaii.

In addition to devoting time to his private practice, Dr. Tan serves as chair of the Department of Pediatrics at St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach, California, and is on active staff at the Miller Children’s and Women’s Hospital (also in Long Beach). 

Dr. Tan has been recognized for his dedicated and inspiring work by numerous organizations. The most recent include the 2022 Points of Life Inspiration Honor Roll by the Points of Life Foundation (founded by President George H. W. Bush), the Katherine White Humanitarian Award presented to him by The Children’s Clinic in Long Beach, California, and the 2021 CAPtivating Causes Community Hero Award, which he received from the Cooperative of American Physicians.

With devotion to supporting the community, Dr. Tan has been actively involved in and the driving force behind many community groups. He is the founder and president of the Cambodian Health Professionals Association of America (CHPAA), a board member of Long Beach Memorial Medical Center/Miller Children’s Hospital, and on the advisory board of The Children’s Clinic.

Dr. Tan welcomes new patients at Karing Pediatrics, a multilingual practice where he speaks English, Khmer, French, Chinese, and Spanish (medical and conversational).
